The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and BMW Group DesignworksUSA are pleased to invite you to participate in the 1st Annual Global Excellence Awards. This worldwide design competition has been established to honor and celebrate outstanding originality and excellence in the creation of international interior design/architecture projects in ten (10) categories.

Who can enter this Competition?

Any interior designer, interior architect, or architect may submit design project(s).
The design project(s) must be located outside of the United States of America, however the design firm may be located anywhere (including the USA).
The design project(s) must have been completed after 1 January 2009.

What do you need to enter?

To enter a project into this competition, you first need to download the Call For Entry form to order an Entry Packet. Once you fill this out and send it back to us with payment, we will e-mail you the Entry Packet with all the rules and guidelines regarding how to submit your entry.
Further details will be explained in the Entry Packet, however all entrants will be asked to submit a CD-Rom with a PowerPoint presentation of images of their completed project as well as a one-page written project statement.

What are the 10 Categories?

• - Corporate Space Large (1,000 square meters and above)
• - Corporate Space Small (under 1,000 square meters)
• - Cultural/Institutional/Educational (Elementary/secondary educational facilities, colleges/universities, art museums, religious facilities, libraries)
• - Healthcare (Hospitals, medical facilities)
• - Hotels
• - Municipal/Public Spaces (Government spaces, sports arenas, casinos, entertainment/performing arts centers)
• - Residences (Private homes, embassies, consulates, assisted/senior living)
• - Restaurants (Restaurants, bars, lounges)
• - Retail (Stores, boutiques, showrooms)
• - Spas/Fitness/Wellness Centers

When are the Competition Deadlines?

The Deadline to request an Entry Packet: 5 November 2010 at 11:00pm GMT
The Deadline to submit completed entries: 19 November 2010 at 11:00pm GMT

How does the Judging process and selection work?

The winning design projects will be selected by a jury of design professionals. Entry submissions will be judged on the appropriateness of the design solution and the successful integration of the elements of design.

A Global Excellence "Best of Category" winner and a maximum of two "Honorable Mentions" in each category will be selected. It is at the judges' discretion to not select a winner in each category. A Global Excellence "Best of Competition" winner will be selected from the "Best of Category" winners.

What happens if you win?

All winners of this competition will be announced and awarded a certificate at MAISON&OBJET Paris, Friday, 21 January 2011. The Global Excellence "Best of Competition" winner will receive a one-of-a-kind crystal award designed by Swarovski. All winning projects will also be celebrated on the IIDA website (www.iida.org).
