The traveller captures the memories of his travels through his camera - photographs - or with a video camera- footage. I have explored a more engaging, more physical way of capturing the memory of a city - specifically Madrid, Spain. The result of this technique has been applied to objects that the traveller can use in their home to remind them of their travels - souvenirs.

These rubbings - made with 4B graphite + fabric - of surfaces and objects from the streets of Madrid are printed onto cushions, upholstery, lampshades, wallpaper, - household wares. The sounds from the daily lives of people in this city have been recorded and used in this collection as well.

They are direct impressions of Madrid.
