FREE MAINTENANCE CLASS FROM tokyobike:
LEADING THE WAY IN CITY CYCLING
Japanʼs super cool bicycle company, tokyobike, will be running free bike maintenance workshops over the next two weeks at its brand new pop-up shop in Rivington Street. tokyobikeʼs expert mechanic on loan from our Head Quarters in Tokyo will lead the sessions, bringing his meticulous craftsmanship to our London workshop. The sessions have been created to show people how to avoid punctures and replace tyres should the inevitable happen.

Open for just 10 weeks, the pop-up store features the full range of tokyobike models including some limited editions. Londonʼs Emulsion Architecture has designed the interior and adorned the former printworks building with Japanese-inspired tokyobike signage. The vertical banner is printed with a pattern derived from the space inside the bike-frame, and you are welcomed by a ʻnorenʼ door-curtain/shop sign hanging across the entrance.

The in-store layout is also deliberately understated and echoes tokyobikeʼs brand ethos and the bikes are displayed simply against plain white walls, to show off their vibrant colours and contrasted with beautiful Japanese products arranged on utilitarian workshop shelving.

All maintenance classes will take place at the shop on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6.30-7.30pm. And for anyone needing help once the pop-up closes, the tokyobike showroom on Shepherdess Walk will be able to service your bike and help you with any queries.

tokyobike will also be running bike tours in September as part of the London Design Festival. The tours will set off and finish at designjunction each day in Holborn, (the hottest new destination at this yearʼs event) and will be led by a leading design critic. The tours will take riders to interesting places and spaces across the capital and will stop off for lunch at designjunctionʼs pop-up café.
The tokyobike store on Rivington Street is the second pop-up tokyobike has opened in London with a permanent store scheduled for next year.
The pop-up is located at 54 Rivington Street, London EC2A 3QN.
