Description

The preparation of the Designers’ Open, the festival for design in Leipzig, are in full swing. The countdown is on for the 6th Designers’ Open in Leipzig/Germany. On the last weekend in October (29th - 31st october) will present more than 120 exhibitors from the fields of interior, industrial, fashion and communication design.

The fair will be split into two main hubs to allow a better orientation and transparency for professional visitors (B2B) as well as end-consumers (B2C). Exhibitors who are looking for producers, manufacturers and partners for their own products submit their work in the category DO/Industry. Designers who want to reach vendors and end-costumers apply for DO/Market.

DO/Spots

With the DO/Spots, the urban space of Leipzig turns into an exhibition course during the days of the Designers‘ Open. Local creative folks as well as design collectives from Germany and abroad present themselves with individually initiated special or group exhibitions. As off-site locations, stores and galleries together with universities and art schools function as magnets off the central exhibition platform. Who may apply: Designers, collectives, galleries, stores, initiatives and institutions thematically dealing with design who want to take part in the festival with product displays, workshops, art openings, discussions, or happenings.

Venue

This year well-known meets newly discovered: the Palais Central presents a unit of the Hôtel de Pologne (kick-off event DO/2008) and the Kretschmann’s Hof. The historic connection is currently being reconstructed. The presentation of the latest national and international design developments, the vast programme and DO/Nights take place on more than 4.500 m².
