DnA_DESIGN and ART
In recent times, the global interest in design, in limited editions, in contaminations and overlaps is blurring the borders between art and design, and the red line between industrial production and artistic creation is rapidly vanishing. This year, CIGE decided to include the theme of design officially in its satellite projects DnA_Design and Art.
The DnA is proud to present a project of the British designer Max Lamb, invited by Maria Cristina Didero and Alexander von Vegesack to create his famous stone furniture out of the Beijing local quarries. This project is supported by Johnson Trading Gallery and CIGE. Second of all in the context of DnA the Thai designer Anon Pairot will present a series of furniture wrapped in colorful tapes at the fair booth of the Vitra Design Museum/Domaine de Boisbuchet which gladly will be presenting its 2009 program of summer workshops, run by renowned designers like the Campana brothers.
Furthermore DnA contributed to the panel about design and art which will take place April 16th at the Ullens Center of Arts. Alexander von Vegesack, director of Vitra Design Museum, will introduce the museum’s profile with a special focus on the reception of Asian art in Europe.
The Vitra Design Museum is one of the official partners of the DnA_DESIGN and ART project and the CIGE 2009. The freelance journalist and curator Mrs Maria Cristina Didero kindly supports the DnA as official representative of the Vitra Design Museum. Alexander von Vegesack, founding director of the Vitra Design Museum established the international workshop site Domaine de Boisbuchet where summer workshops are organized every year in collaboration with the Centre Georges Pompidou.
