CALL FOR ENTRIES

01 – THE SUBJECT

The subject of this international competition is a bath designing program to complement the antelope collection on the DNA+ web site: Products have to be designed for all, in other words have an easy access, be environmentally safe, compliant for a use in a wet environment for a residential use as well as for a commercial use. Material limitation; wood, Corian, aluminum, stainless steel, glass, acrylic glass. Technology limitation: die making, tubing, extrusion, thermoforming, CNC machining are preferred.

DNA+ is looking for new and innovative functional designs. Each submitter is to invent new ways of relating to life in the bath environment.

Each submitter will have to be able to transition a vision into real working products for daily life use. Entries are invited for the following categories:

• - FURNITURE> such as cabinets, Shelves, mirrors, wall mounted boards, seating...
• - ACCESSORY> such toilet paper holders, hangers, towel bars / holders, tooth brush holders, soap dispensers, soap dishes, cups, magazine holders...
• - LIGHTING> such as a wall / ceilling lights, sconces or objects with integrated light such as a mirror or a countertop...).

02 – AWARDS

The designers of winning entries will be granted unlimited 9% Royalties as awards. DNA+ will exercise the option to use the rights for production on an exclusive basis (without time limitations), DNA+ will pay a quarterly remuneration based on Royalties to the designer for each product sold nationally and internationally as well.

03 – THE JURY

The jury is composed of the DNA+ design and marketing team.

04 – DESIGN CRITERIA

Submissions should not be currently in production or known by any third party. Previously published or exhibited design concepts are not accepted.

The jury will award designs and concepts which are innovative and manufacturable in terms of their formal / functional and technological aspects. designers are asked to provide mature concept art, 2D/3D rendering views, as well as technical drawings of the finished product and possibly part / assembly in a CAD format.

05 – SUBMISSION DEADLINE

Submissions will be accepted from June 30th, through October 30th, 2009. if submission is from a team - please register with one name only, - when submitting works include all team member’s names with the submission.

THERE IS NO ENROLLMENT LIMITATION.

06 – RESULTS ANNOUNCEMENT

By November 15th, 2009, results will be communicated to each participant. Awarded designers will have their work published by famous design magazines like "Designer" (UK), "Dwell" (USA) and design portal as well like "Core77" or "Dexigner".

07 – SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY

Submit each entry separately whether an entry is from an individual or a group, submit only one multipage .PDF document for each concept.

1. Single .PDF file for uploading to our server (images or a composition of more images / texts) of your project. please note: use only .PDF (72 dpi) max 8 Mo per document , RGB color mode. Image size max 800 (width) x 1280 (height) pixels. The original 300 DPI high-resolution image(s) will be requested if your work is shortlisted. Explanation of ideas explain each design by entering as much description as needed. (english text only, explanation is expected to be concise).

2. Single / Multiple .DXF 2D cad drawings.

3. Single .IGS 3D CAD / CAM file: if several parts, please organize parts by layer. Solidworks and ProE native format are also accepted.

4. Competition guidelines must be agreed to for an entry to be accepted by DNA+.

Competition guidelines: Projects participating in the competition, must be original works. Projects must be free from copyrights and any kind of obligation to any third party. The design shall not in any way infringe any third party’s right, including but not limited to copyright, logos, trademark, trade names, or other proprietary rights of publicity or privacy. Only entries with a declaration of authorship are accepted ! (when submitting a design the submitter will be asked to tick a box of declaration).

08 – COPYRIGHT

Any moral and paternity right regarding the project sent in for application is designer’s property.

• However by submitting a design in the competition, the participant agrees to provide DNA+ with the right of first refusal to the exclusive use of the design. this option is valid for 6 months after the competition will ends.
• In the event that DNA+ exercises the option to use the rights for production on an exclusive basis and sine die (without time limitations), DNA+ will pay a quarterly remuneration based on Royalties to the designer for each product sold.
• By participating in the competition, all participants authorise DNA+ to publish and exhibit all the designs (including project data submitted) at exhibitions and events and/or to use them in any publications that the organisers may deem suitable and/or necessary.

The competitition is only open to people of 18 years or older.
