The Competition

For the first time in Puerto Rico, Designers, have the opportunity to exchange their ideas in one place, the Puerto Rico Design eXchange 2010. This is an open design competition for emergent professionals and students in six different categories. The PRDX2010 includes the following categories; Architecture, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design and Photography.

The competition extends an invitation to Designers, Architects, Engineers, Fashion Designers, Graphic Designers, Industrial Designers, Interior Designers, Photographers and students of all these categories. We encourage Designers around the world to express them by submitting their work and ideas to PRDX2010. Awards are given for excellence across a very broad spectrum in each design category. Entries will be judged by a distinguished jury.

AWARDS
Winners and entries selected by the jurors, in the six categories, will be published on the website www.PRDX2010.com. Winners will be recognized in each of the six categories with a certificate for the First, Second, and Third place for professionals and students. Also, for this competition, the juror coordinators will choose the best overall project of the six categories and recognize it with the MARUJA FUENTES Special Award for Excellence in Design. The Puerto Rico Design eXchange 2010 Awards ceremony will be held on March 2010. Location to be announced. Everyone who enters is welcomed to see the launch of the PRDX2010 first exhibition.

PUERTO RICO DESIGN EXCHANGE 2010 [PRDX2010] COMPETITION OFFICIAL RULES

1. Competition Sponsors:
The Puerto Rico Design eXchange 2010 Competition is sponsored by Puerto Rico Design eXchange Foundation Inc. [PRDXF] a Non Profit Corporation established in Puerto Rico on 2010.

2. Eligibility:
The Competition is open to Designers, Architects, Engineers, Fashion Designers, Graphic Designers, Industrial Designers, Interior Designers, Photographers and students of all these categories who are at least 18 years of age. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal [United States of America] and local [Common Wealth of Puerto Rico] laws and regulations, and is VOID in those countries that where prohibited by law. Members of PRDX2010, Jurors, Sponsors and their immediate families are not eligible to enter the Competition.

3. Competition Details, Winners Selection and Prize:
Competition entrants, for each of the six categories including Architecture, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design and Photography, will send their work to be evaluated by a distinguished panel of Jurors selected by PRDX2010. All entrant’s Boards and/or Pages or Photos, will be accompanied by a short narrative describing their proposals, not to exceed 200 words. Submissions will be judged on their representation, originality, concept, and exceptional design. A panel of jurors, for each category, recognized locally and/or internationally on the category they attend will evaluate entries and their decision is final and binding. The Jury recommendation shall consider the competition criteria set by PRDX2010 and establish its own criteria to examine all entries in order to have the winners. The winning entries and the identity of the winner will be announced on PRDX2010 Internet site and the winner will be notified in writing by certified mail, after the jury decision for all six categories has been taken. Jurors will select a first; second and third place for the professional category and the select three students in each of the six categories. The juror reserves the call for vacant in any of the three places for professionals and students for the six categories. Winners will receive a certificate for those who were selected for first, second and third place for each of the six categories. If the PRDX2010 makes future publications entrants will be notified by email if it is finally published.

4. Registration and General submissions requirements:*
All participants must complete and sign the Registration Form. In addition, all participants must have all of the following elements to enter the Competition:*

a.Submissions shall be in Digital Board, Page or Photo on JPEG format at 300 DPI resolution.
b.The Board or Page size is A1 = 594 by 841 millimeters (23.4 × 33.1 in) horizontal orientation.
c.Each photography shall be presented in JPEG format, 10 megapixel size minimum at 300ppi.
d. No personal information shall appear on the Digital Board, Page or Photography.
e.All file size shall not exceed 20 MB.
f.Proponent must include in separate document [letter size paper portrait]; Registration Form with; Proponent Name, project name and project abstract of 200 words maximum.
g.Include information on a CD [Compact Disk] if you will going to send it by mail.
h. Identify the CD and name file with the participant name and category extension [e.g. SMITH-INDUSTRIAL DESIGN-STUDENT] Remember that you can send all the information by mail or email.
i. Send the Registration Form completed and signed by mail or email.
j. No payment, it is free.

5. Participants Ownership and License to PRDX2010
Participant must have all ownership rights of the design information presented to PRDX2010 Competition. All entrant’s submissions are their original work. PRDX2010 reserves the right to void and/or disqualify any submission that is inconsistent with these representations and warranties, or to be defective, obscene or offensive. The entrant agree to indemnify PRDX2010 against all claims or damages arising out of the use of any design or other materials they submit to this competition. By submitting an entry, you grant to PRDX2010 and assign an unlimited, worldwide, perpetual license to disseminate, publish, edit, or dispose of the design and text, or in any other media for editorial, advertising, promotional or other purposes without compensation or notification of any kind to you, except as prohibited by law. Entrants must not have breached any laws when submitting their project or have conflict by offered any of their entries for sale, been paid for any publication of any of their entries or won or been a runner up in any other competition with any of their entries. Entrants shall have no right of approval, no claim to compensation, and no claim [including, without limitation, claims based on invasion of privacy, defamation, or right of publicity] arising out of any use of their personal or professional information. An agreement, including a Waiver, and Assignment of Intellectual Property Rights, and a Publicity Release will be required to the winners. Failure to due so will result in forfeiture of the prize. By submitting, entrant grants to PRDX2010 the right to use the entrant’s name and information for disseminate, editorial, advertising and promotional purposes, without compensation [except where prohibited by law].

6. General Conditions.
By participating in the Competition, entrants agree to abide by the terms of the Puerto Rico Design eXchange 2010 Competition Officials Rules and by the decisions of the PRDX2010 and the judges, which will be final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Competition. PRDX2010 and their respective employees, jurors, successors and assigns shall have no responsibility for any injury, losses, or damages of any kind resulting from participation in this Competition. If for any reason the Competition is not capable of running as planned, including defective data, computer virus or any other causes beyond the control of PRDX2010, which affect the administration, integrity, or proper conduct of this Competition, PRDX2010 reserve the right in their sole discretion to modify, or suspend the Competition. PRDX2010 assume no responsibility for any failure, theft, or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. PRDX2010 are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by the competition or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participants or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Competition. Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage to this competition will be prosecuted by the laws of Puerto Rico. If you do not want your information used in this manner, please do not enter this Competition.
