About the Awards

LIA turns 25 in 2010, a milestone in the life of any organization, and a tribute to the many who have contributed to its success. In the light of our 25th anniversary, we welcome you to share a year of celebrating the past, awarding the present, and focusing on the future with us.

As an awards show LIA has established itself throughout its 25-year history as a revolutionary global leader honouring Advertising, Design and Digital media. It has since become an icon that has raised creativity worldwide by celebrating the power of ideas, and recognising the Legends, Iconoclasts, and Avatars of creative excellence.

LIA was the first comprehensive award of its kind, established in London, to accept all media and executions from all over the world to be judged by a truly diverse international jury, comprised of the most talented, recognised and awarded individuals. Each year, it is the commitment to the integrity of the judging process and the contributions of the Jury Presidents that bolster and uphold LIA's tradition of awarding only the most inspirational ideas.

In 2009, LIA launched The NEW Category, which recognised ideas and executions without boundaries. The inaugural NEW Category jury, led by Jury President, Faris Yakob, awarded work that merged the power of an original idea with a relevant compelling execution - emotionally inspirational, imaginative and effectively creating new dialogues and spaces of interaction. The award-winning pieces of work also altered perceptions and set new benchmarks that invite and reward the consumer at every level of engagement.

For the 2010 Awards, LIA will be adding two new juries, each having its own jury President. One jury will be established for Television/Cinema/Online Film - Technique and the other panel will judge all Music categories, regardless of medium.

How we judge: All work entered is prepared and presented to each of our Jury Presidents and their respective juries. In September 2010 all juries, except the Technique juries, will come together and judge at the Wynn, Las Vegas. After all work has been viewed by each jury, without bias as to origin of work by country, company or individual, their collective votes and voices, including those of the Jury Presidents, will determine the Gold, Silver, Bronze winners and the finalists. Each jury has the opportunity to award a Grand LIA, although it is not mandatory. A Grand LIA can only be awarded to an execution among those that have been chosen to receive a Gold Statue.

The commitment to recognising great work does not end with the entries and the Awards Show. The annual LIA showcase of the award-winning work commences directly after the Awards and continues through the following year. We share these extraordinary accomplishments via our online archive, industry forums, exhibitions and presentations. The LIA Annual, a beautifully crafted hardbound edition is distributed worldwide providing a lasting resource for all, as well as, a tribute to the Winners and Finalists.

Over its entire 25-year history, Barbara Levy, Founder and President of LIA, has and continues to lead the organization. Her unwavering support for this industry has provided a unique stage to award and honour these creative achievements.
