London Design Festival Design Competition

Following the success of the Pentagram Poster Project in 2009, London Design Festival is delighted to invite graphic designers to get involved with a new project for 2010. This time, we’ve opted for a more portable communication tool – the badge.
Like a poster, the badge is one of the oldest and still most powerful mediums that is used to communicate. However, it’s a more up close and personal way of conveying political, social & environmental messages, ideas, brands and events.
With this in mind, we’re taking the theme of London and asking you to express your thoughts on our city in the scale of a badge. This can be any view of what London represents to you. We expect a variety of results, some witty, some provocative – we simply ask that all be inspiring.
We’ll select five winning designs to be produced as the official London Design Festival badges, launching them at the Press Conference at the V&A Museum on 13 May. The 20,000 badges (4000 of each design) will be handed out at London Design Festival 2010 and other design events throughout the year as well as included in press packs and with Festival bags.
The finished badge will be round, 45mm in diameter, and if possible, should contain only red, black and white (in reference to the brief for the Poster Project in 2009).
