Infographythm, a project coordinated by CarréRotondes and the non-profit organisation Design Friends, was conceived along the same lines as the Graphythm exhibition – an alliance of graphics and rhythm – which was organised within the walls of the old Exit07, and within the framework of the UE project ‘Luxembourg and the Greater Region, European Capital of Culture 2007’.

For this new edition, information graphics will be honoured. The participants – coming from the world of design (graphic designers, photographers, etc) – will be asked to perform a task, at the very least unusual, in the midst of the professional summer break: create a personal activity report for the month of August. It will be a question of creating a report – by means of ‘information graphics ’ understood in the original definition of “information provided through graphic design” – of a personal activity, from the more trivial enumerating of the daily routine in slow motion to the more extravagant seasonal experiences, an activity which will extend throughout August and whose results and values will be translated and assessed by means of diagrams, curves and other schema.

The codes of bureaucratic graphic design (often related …) will thus be reinvested in a light hearted way, but in a resolutely aesthetic process underlining the somewhat ridiculous and superfluous aspect of the endless activity reports which are propagated at the end of the year. Infographythm has been conceived for the personal small enterprise of each one of the participants: with August being placed under the sign of graphic constraint, the inventive minds will be asked to show their zeal in the midst of the close season!

Selected creations will be exhibited in the EXPO space of the CarréRotondes and gathered within a catalogue designed for this occasion.

Terms of participation

Participants must submit all required materials before the deadline of 15 November 2009:

• • The project in vector format, which can be reproduced :
• – In a catalogue in the format 24 x 30 cm – 300 dpi CMYK
• – In the exhibition in the format A0 – 300 dpi CMYK

The two files (project and information form) must be named with the same random 5 digit number

Each participant implicitly grants the right, through his participation, for the reproduction of his project in the exhibition catalogue. He/she also allows for the complete or partial reproduction of his project towards publicising the exhibition and catalogue. Each participant maintains author’s rights towards his/her own project.

Any project:

• • not adhering to all of the technical specificities mentioned above;
• • arriving after the deadline of November 15, 2009;
• • not-accompanied by the information form;
• • accompanied by an incomplete information form;
• will not be accepted.

Terms of selection

A working group made up members of the Carré Rotondes, Design Friends and Gestalten (www.gestalten.com), publishers of “Data Flow” will meet in December 2009 to carry out a selection of max. 50 projects which will then be exhibited at the time of the INFOGRAPHYTHM at CarréRotondes from February 24 to April 4, 2010 and which will be also reproduced in the exhibition catalogue.

Creatives selected will be informed by email. No financial remuneration will be granted. Participation will be remunerated in the form of:

• a double page of the creative, with a presentation of his/her bio and project in the exhibition catalogue.

• 10 catalogues, to be picked up at the CarréRotondes, along with their publication.

The reproduced projects remain the property of the organisers, who reserve the possibility of organizing an auction

Organisation

The INFOGRAPHYTHM was developed following the GRAPHYTHM event in 2007, and is organized jointly by Design Friends and CarréRotondes, two non profit associations.
