Bespoke: Creative Competition

Bespoke:, is the first venture of its kind; to draw together professional and aspiring designers, as well as members of the public, in order to promote the growth and development of the design industry.
Bespoke: has one main focus: creating opportunities for designers to push their creativity, by revolutionising the way people think about and approach design.
As product of 2xanadu, Bespoke: has been refined and cultivated, in collaboration with McFaul Studio and LUMA Sport, providing a platform for designers to experiment with, and functioning as a foothold on the ladder of creative development.
How often are you given the chance to work on a brief where, the only limitations you have are the canvas you use? And how often is that canvas a flat surface?
With Bespoke:, we hope to resolve these issues, and procure the means for designers to toy with their concepts by offering interesting, unusual and sometimes ridiculous mediums on to which to translate their ideas.
Using the combined efforts of several passionate and well-established designers, Bespoke: is the conceptual tool forged in an effort to destroy the weights of conventional thinking and break the chains of commercial conformation.
The Competition
In collaboration with LUMA Sport and McFaul Studios, 2xanadu are hosting ‘Bespoke’, an event that encourages designers to use more non-traditional media as canvas for design.
The show will take place towards October and will be held in Brick Lane, which is deemed by many to be the undisputed ‘creative-hub’ of London, and we expect designers from all walks of life to be in attendance, from fledgling designers to the crème de la crème of the industry.
The idea is to create a platform for established and rising designers to have some fun, so we conceived a fairly straightforward idea in two parts; an exhibition in which we invite hand-picked designers to design graphics for the frames of LUMA’s Fixed Gear Bikes, and a competition following the same brief, wherein the best entries will be picked and placed in the show.
BRIEF: The image of LUMA’s Fixed Gear Bike range is attached to that of urban city lifestyles, landscapes and the way people interact with them. The purpose of this brief is to explore people’s attitudes towards their bikes and their expression through it. If you were to think of your bike as an extension of yourself, what would it look like?
The brief is fairly open and encourages you to be as creative with your design as you please.
Using the LUMA Fixed Gear Bike as a base, we want you to come up with a design that is unique to you.
We’ve provided a template of the bike, that you can download and stick your designs onto, as well as an example in the web site’s gallery.
To submit your design, simply register on www.bespoke-creative.net and download the template we have provided, arrange your designs onto it, and then upload a 2000x2000 pixel 72 dpi JPEG by the 19th of August 2010.
