Artists Wanted - The Power of Self
A competition about the potential of self-portraiture.
From Salvador Dali to Cindy Sherman the self has been the subject of all the art world's greats. The self-portrait transcends medium, style and period, existing in the vast space between the personal and prophetic. This competition is about your story, your image and the power they hold. This is the Power of Self.
Judges & Prizes
Our panel of judges including actor Steve Buscemi, director/producer Chris Weitz, Guggenheim Curator Helen Hsu and Flavorpill Founder Sascha Lewis will select one portfolio of self-portraits for The Grand Prize:
The Grand Prize package includes and Art-Star reception in New York City, international exposure and a feature in 3rd Ward Magazine, plus your choice of either six months free living at The Edge in New York City or $7007 cash.
The People's Choice winner will be decided by the rating your portfolio recieves from your friends, family and the general public. Gawker Artists will award one winner a publicity push with hundreds of thousands of visits acrosss a network of dozens of website, plus $1,000 cash.
Submit your work
We've worked hard to create a simple system for submitting your work into the competition. When you complete the process you will have your own portfolio which we will send to the judges for review and which you can share with the world! ( Here's a sample portfolio). You can submit as many images as you like and you are welcome to submit multiple portfolios but we recommend a minimum of three images. If you have questions feel free to e-mail us.
