Unruly Glass was the title of the exhibition that Mixcube hosted during the Salone del Mobile 2011 in Milan, featuring the creations of Italian Designer Alberto Nason. He has worked for many years with Michele De Lucchi, one of the most important and successful designers and architects in the international scene.

Although the furnaces at the Holmegaard Glassworks were shut down in 2008, the Holmegaard brand still lives on. LOFT has met the creative director and two designers, and talked to them about the changes of the last few years and the future of the Holmegaard brand which has just celebrated its 185th anniversary.

A visit to Copenhagen often includes the major museums in the city centre, but it is well worth while to travel to Charlottenlund, just 8 km north of the city, to the Ordrupgaard museum which houses one of northern Europe’s better collections of Danish and French art from the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. The museum is in an old manor house in a large park, and there is a modern extension designed by architect Zaha Hadid. In 2008 the furniture designer Finn Juhl’s house became part of Ordrupgaard too.

Renowned for its fresh and always up-dated creative direction, Moroso is now gearing up for the Milan Design Week where Patrizia, Creative Director and daughter of the founder of the company, will surprise visitors to her show room on Via Pontaccio, in the heart of historical Milan, as happens every year.

Art History is where Matts Leiderstam finds ‘his’ gaze. Through art history he finds stories: stories that wake an interest, stories that that talk about ways of seeing. Seeing as a negotiation. The stories that have a link to the present, where he exists, and why his meeting with a particular painting creates an additional story, a story that he can call his own.

Danish by birth and world citizen by adoption, Johannes Torpe is a volcano of ideas. Creative and cheerful, he leaves much to improvisation and good taste. His nightclubs and restaurants are an immediate success and thanks to a fruitful series of collaborations with food and furniture industry business patrons he has recently opened a new Beijing studio in the heart of the Chinese dragon.

Kenneth Kvarnström, one of Scandinavia’s top choreographers, is now back in the region after working with the Sydney Dance Company. He is currently setting up a dance work, YOUMAKEME, at Helsinki City Theatre in Finland. He previously ran one of Scandinavia’s largest venues for international contemporary dance – the House of Dance in Stockholm – where he was the director and hosted his dancer and choreographer colleagues from around the world. Now his audience is expectantly waiting to once again see his sensual dynamic movements on stage.

It is not every day one has the opportunity to see an exhibition of art from South Korea, but now a Stockholm gallery has given us the chance and provided an insight into some aspects of contemporary art from the Korean peninsula. This is an ambitious project for an independent venue.

In less than a decade, international architects including Frank Gehry and Santiago Calatrava have transformed the landscape of La Rioja, in northern Spain, adding cutting-edge buildings of titanium, glass and steel to an area once dominated by cobblestones and wooden beams.

Swiss architect Mario Botta recently founded the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio based on a humanistic approach to the discipline. An autobiographical exhibition of work from his long career was recently shown at the MART – the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto in northern Italy – a building that he personally designed.
