The aim of VIENNA DESIGN WEEK is to show and enable people to experience the many-faceted creative work in the fields of product, furniture and industrial design as well as experimental design. This ideas competition is organized within the framework of the Programme for Transnational Cooperation Slovakia – Austria 2007–2013, a project that aims at finding innovative solutions for Europe to become a more socially attractive and ecologically sustainable environment. The competition is open to entrants living in the European Union and looks for unrealized ideas and designs involving waste products (re-use design) that will be presented to the public and offered to companies active in the socioeconomic field in order to be eventually implemented.Author:Maria Haake

From poster and advertisement to annual report and packaging – communication design is as diverse as it is unique. red dot presents the best of the award-winning design works of the red dot award: communication design 2008 from 23 January to 8 March 2009 in the exhibition “red dot presents: communication design at its best” in collaboration with the Austrian association of designers, design Austria, in Vienna’s Museum Quarter. Starting January 1, 2009, 100 Beste Plakate e.V. is launching the latest iteration of its design competition »100 beste Plakate des Jahres Deutschland Österreich Schweiz« ("100 best posters of the year in Germany, Austria and Switzerland").
