Since the late 19th century and throughout much of the 20th, designers have celebrated the socially uplifting promise of industrial production, believing the true path to modernity lay in standardization. A designer’s job was to conceive a model that could be converted into a working prototype—a blueprint for a series of objects, each identical and manufactured according to exacting rules.

First staged in 2003, the London Design Festival is one of the world's most important annual design events. The nine-day Festival programme is made up of over 200 events and exhibitions staged by around 160 partner organisations across the design spectrum and from around the world.

Hong Kong Design Centre & our sister’s organisation Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design will organise a 3-day market named “Design Mart” at InnoCentre for new designers and new design brands to expose their products to the general public. DESIGN MART aims to provide a platform for Hong Kong emerging creative talents to promote their original design works. Emerging designers & creative people are welcome to join. This also provides a great opportunity for the designers to communicate directly with the public and showcase their creative ideas.

Following its successful debut appearance at this year’s Salone del Mobile, Milan, designjunction london, will showcase the very best in global design during the London Design Festival. Under the creative direction of celebrated British designer Michael Sodeau, designjunction london, will take over the impressive surrounds of Victoria House (Holborn, central London) with over 2,000 sqm of exhibition space.

Made in Brunel showcases the brightest creations from Brunel University’s globally renowned School of Engineering and Design. The 'Library in the Forest' replaces an existing facility that the city of Vestavia Hills has outgrown. The 3-story building was designed to LEED Standards with an anticipated LEED Gold certification, becoming one of the first public libraries to reach this designation in the region.

The world's premier international art show for Modern and contemporary works, Art Basel features nearly 300 leading galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa. More than 2,500 artists, ranging from the great masters of Modern art to the latest generation of emerging stars, are represented in the show's multiple sections. The exhibition includes the highest-quality paintings, sculptures, drawings, installations, photographs, video and editioned works.

Benjamin Hubert's first solo show Materiality, is an exhibition showcasing the industrial design of Benjamin Hubert. The inaugural solo exhibition aims to expose the working process of the burgeoning design studio in addition to the finished articles.

The International Design Alliance (IDA) is a strategic venture between the international organisations representing industrial design, communication design and interior architecture/design. The alliance was created by its founding partners, the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) and the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda) in 2003. In 2008, the IDA welcomed the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) to the alliance as the third partner.
