  • The AIA|LA’s Restaurant Design Awards (RDA) honor excellence in restaurant design. The competition is open to all individuals and practices with both restaurant owners and architects/designers invited to submit. Either the project itself must be located in the United States or the submitting individual/firm must be US-based. Submissions are accepted in three main categories: restaurants, cafés/bars and lounges/nightclubs.

  • Under the title “sit and wait,” Heimtextil’s focus for 2010 will be on the design of seating furniture for waiting areas: whether in public areas – counter areas, train stations or airports – or in traditional waiting areas in the health & care segment, nobody likes to wait, and many people frequently consider this time “lost.” The “experienced” waiting time is mainly characterized by the circumstances of waiting; and the atmosphere of waiting is a crucial factor for visitors and customers when deciding whether they wish to return to the waiting area.
