Lighting & Interior Design

  • This is the third edition of Faces of Design's hugely successful interdisciplinary design competition raising the visibility of hot design talent worldwide. The competition is based on participants’ existing portfolios, and culminates in the publication of a printed volume, showcasing the 25 most promising design talents, by design discipline (e.g. graphic, fashion or interior design). This collection of profiles is distributed to over 1.500 key decision makers at more than 400 companies, design institutions, and the design press.

    On top of this, the three candidates with the most panel votes overall receive extra promotion, including special press features and personal introductions to key individuals within the industry.

  • Make art. Not waste! That’s the motto of the ScrapLab Design Contest. Enthusiastic designers and hobby crafters worldwide are invited to submit their creative designs made of scrap on the contest platform. The objective is to recycle waste materials in form of new products such as furniture, accessories or artwork and to bring them back into the economic circle.

  • Cooper Lighting announced a call for entries for its 35th Annual SOURCE Awards national lighting design competition. The competition, which focuses on furthering the understanding, knowledge and function of lighting as a primary element in design, is open to all lighting designers, architects, engineers, professional designers and consultants who use Cooper Lighting fixtures in an interior or exterior design project.

  • The Great Indoors Award is an international, biennial, interior design award that wishes to elevate interior design to the level of ‘mature discipline’. We attempt to provide the interior designer with a platform of stature, as well as to prompt debate and disburse information on interior design.

  • Since 2000, Andreu World has been holding a juried competition to showcase unique and innovative seating and table design solutions. This event has established itself on the international scene by becoming a showcase for the latest trends in furniture design, as well as a launching pad for new artists. Andreu World has now opened the registration period for its 2011 International Design Competition. The assignment is to design a chair or a table. The designs should be sustainable with possible innovative features related to design, quality, technology, production processes, etc.

  • The American Academy in Rome invites applications for the Rome Prize competition. One of the leading overseas centers for independent study and advanced research in the arts and the humanities, the Academy offers up to thirty fellowships for periods ranging from six months to two years. Rome Prize winners reside at the Academy’s eleven-acre center in Rome and receive room and board, a study or studio, and a stipend. Stipends for six-month fellowships are $14,000 and stipends for eleven-month fellowships are $26,000.
