This is the third edition of Faces of Design's hugely successful interdisciplinary design competition raising the visibility of hot design talent worldwide. The competition is based on participants’ existing portfolios, and culminates in the publication of a printed volume, showcasing the 25 most promising design talents, by design discipline (e.g. graphic, fashion or interior design). This collection of profiles is distributed to over 1.500 key decision makers at more than 400 companies, design institutions, and the design press.

On top of this, the three candidates with the most panel votes overall receive extra promotion, including special press features and personal introductions to key individuals within the industry.

The Freedom to Create Prize is a celebration of the courage and creativity of artists, and the positive influence of their work to promote social justice and inspire the human spirit.

Stephen Jones, one of the world’s finest milliners, is inviting designers to submit a photograph or illustration of their originally designed hat for the chance to be a part of Hats: An Anthology, an exhibition hosted by the Bard Graduate Center in New York City. The exhibit is a collaboration between Stephen Jones and the V&A and has previously attracted over 350,000 visitors in London and Brisbane. The selected hat will be displayed in the Bard Graduate Center Gallery as part of the exhibition. Stephen Jones is looking for originality and creativity and encourages participants to use any kind of material - from paper to metal, fabric to feathers, card to plastic*.

We’ve been receiving warm support from all over the world since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. It wasn’t just people in Japan who were affected, people in many countries showed their warmth and support through various creative initiatives, making new connections and bonds across the world. We are proud to introduce ARIGATO project, founded in association with Tokyo Award, an art and design TV show in Japan and Design Association NPO.

The American Academy in Rome invites applications for the Rome Prize competition. One of the leading overseas centers for independent study and advanced research in the arts and the humanities, the Academy offers up to thirty fellowships for periods ranging from six months to two years. Rome Prize winners reside at the Academy’s eleven-acre center in Rome and receive room and board, a study or studio, and a stipend. Stipends for six-month fellowships are $14,000 and stipends for eleven-month fellowships are $26,000.
