The Park Hoarding

Niall O'Kelly
This is a hoarding I designed for The Park Carrickmines, a new development in South County Dublin comprising retail, office space, hotel and leisure facilities. Hoarding is mandatory in Ireland and must be put around every building site to protect passers-by from harm (unlike in the U.S.). Many developers take advantage of the space on the hoarding to advertise the coming building/development to prospective tenants and buyers. In the case of a retail centre such as this, it also serves to advertise it to consumers and generate interest and excitement about the coming development.
Having been involved in the brands creation, I further extended it across this hoarding, using the bold colour palette behind strong imagery. Each one focusses on a particular aspect of the development, and the copy and imagery are chosen to complement this. The line continues across each hoarding unbroken, wrapping itself around the models and showing how the consumer can be a part of it. I did all of the design and production work on this piece. Each hoarding was 8 foot in height and about 20–24 feet wide. As the area around the development was on a slope, each hoarding had to be carefully aligned and stepped to ensure that the line ran across the series unbroken.
